Day One: Temples of Luxor – Power, Ceremony, and Eternal Stones
Early Morning Departure from Hurghada
Your journey begins at 5:00 AM with a private pickup from your hotel in Hurghada. Travel in a deluxe, air-conditioned vehicle through the desert and farmland of Upper Egypt until you arrive in Luxor, the ancient city of Thebes.
Karnak Temple Complex
Your first stop is Karnak, the most expansive temple complex in Egypt. Walk among the towering columns of the Great Hypostyle Hall, admire ancient obelisks, and learn how successive pharaohs built and expanded this sacred site over centuries. Your guide will reveal the spiritual significance and the power dynamics behind the grandeur.
Lunch on the East Bank
Enjoy a traditional Egyptian meal at a handpicked local restaurant. Rest and refuel as you prepare to explore the rest of Luxor’s east bank.
Luxor Temple
Continue to Luxor Temple, a masterpiece of New Kingdom architecture. Built by Amenhotep III and completed by Ramses II, this temple played a central role in the annual Opet Festival. As you walk through the colonnades and statues, imagine the ceremonial processions that once filled these sacred halls.
Karnak Sound and Light Show
After a short break, return to Karnak Temple in the evening for the Sound and Light Show. As dramatic lighting illuminates the ruins, stories of gods, kings, and rituals unfold around you, offering a vivid reimagining of Egypt’s ancient glory.
Overnight Stay in Luxor
Following the show, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Luxor for a restful night in preparation for the next day’s discoveries.
Day Two: Tombs, Queens, and the Path to Aswan
Morning on the West Bank
After breakfast, your guide will meet you at 9:00 AM to begin your exploration of the Theban necropolis.
Valley of the Kings
Cross to the west bank and enter the Valley of the Kings, the burial ground of Egypt’s New Kingdom pharaohs. With your ticket, visit three tombs—each one uniquely decorated with vivid paintings and hieroglyphs depicting scenes from the afterlife. An optional visit to the tomb of Tutankhamun is also available.
Temple of Queen Hatshepsut
Next, visit the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut, carved into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. This elegant complex stands as a tribute to Egypt’s most influential female ruler, showcasing a blend of innovation, symbolism, and strength.
Colossi of Memnon
Before leaving Luxor, stop at the Colossi of Memnon—two monumental statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have stood watch over the Theban plain for over 3,000 years.
Optional Experiences
You may choose to enhance your tour with a traditional boat ride across the Nile or a visit to one of Luxor’s local markets for an authentic glimpse of modern Egyptian life.
